ABSTRAK
MAGHFIRA DALIANA, NIM, 13 104 042, judul skripsi “AN ANALYSIS OF NOUN PHRASE ERRORS MADE BY STUDENTS IN WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXTS AT SMPN 1 SAWAHLUNTO”, Jurusan Tadris Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Ilmu Keguruan Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Batusangkar.
Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah belum terungkapnya kesalahan-kesalahan dalam penggunaan noun phrase. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan-keasalahan dalam penggunaan noun phrase tersebut.
Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Yang mendeskripsikan kesalahan dalam pengunaan noun phrase yang dibuat oleh siswa kelas tujuh semester dua tahun akademik 2017/2018. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah Noun Phrase Errors yang terdapat dalam 57 dokumen teks deskriptif. Sumber data adalah dokumen latihan siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori yang dikemukakan oleh Dulay in Margharet (2012) yaitu: omission error, addition error, misformation error, and misordering error.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan beberapa kesalahan dalam penggunaan Noun Phrase yang dibuat oleh siswa kelas tujuh semsester dua SMPN 1 Sawahlunto tahun akademik 2017/2018. Jenis-jenis kesalahan itu berupa omission error of article a, omission error of article an, omission error of article the, omission error of apostrophe, omission error of plural marker s, addition error of indefinite pronoun. addition errors of article a, addition errors of article the, addition errors of plural marker s, addition errors of apostrophe, addition errors of possessive adjective, misformation error of subject pronoun, misformation error of demonstrative pronoun, misformation error of confusion between subject pronoun and possessive adjective, misformation errors of possessive adjective, and misordering errors of incorrect placement of article.

ABSTRACT SRI WAHYUNI, No. Reg. 2030104060, entitled: “The Effect of Using 3D Visual Media on Students’ Ability to Write Descriptive Texts (A Study at Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 3 Batusangkar)”, English Education Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, State Islamic University (UIN) Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar. The problem in this study was whether the use of 3D visual media had a significant effect on students’ ability to write descriptive texts. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of using 3D visual media on students’ ability to write descriptive texts at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 3 Batusangkar. This study was quantitative research using a quasi-experimental design, specifically a post-test only control group design. The population of this study was all eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Batusangkar. The samples consisted of two classes: an experimental class with 29 students and a control class with 28 students. The experimental class was taught using 3D visual media, while the control class was taught using conventional teaching methods. The data were collected through a writing test in the form of descriptive text. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test. The results of this research showed that the mean score of the experimental class was 74.86, while the mean score of the control class was 54.00. The result of the t-test showed that the t-value was 8.197 with a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000, which was lower than the significance level of 0.05. It indicated that there was a significant difference between students who were taught using 3D visual media and those who were taught using conventional methods. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the use of 3D visual media had a significant positive effect on students’ ability to write descriptive texts. Therefore, it is recommended that English teachers apply 3D visual media as an alternative teaching medium to enhance students’ writing skills, particularly in teaching descriptive texts.

Indah Putri Az Zahra, NIM, DEVELOPING CONSTRUCT 2-BASED APPLICATION TO FACILITATE STUDENTS IN WIRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXTS FOR GRADE VII JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS", English Teaching Department, faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training State Islamic University (UIN) talimud Yunus Batusangkar. The used of learning media im teaching is already common, but the use of Construct 2 applications in teaching and learning process is still not widely perceived. This research aims to develop of Construct 2-based applications for writing descriptive text in VII grade junior high school This research was used a research and development (R&D) method approach. The development model used is the 4D model which is divided into 3 steps, namely (1) the define stage, carried out to obtain an overview of conditan m the field, in this stage observations and interviews with teachers, analysis of students characteristics, concept analysis, task analysis, and setting instructional objectives, (2) the design stage, used to design media Construct 2 based on the applications, and the results of the design stage are continued with (3) the develop stage, used to see the validity and practicality of the media Constract 2 based on the applications that was developed. The data was collected used a total sampling technique on the entire population of 28 people. The instruments used in data collection were interview guidelines, documentation, validation questionnaire and practicality. Furthermore, the technique in analyzing data was using the Likert Scale formula to analyze the level of validity and practicality of the developed product data The result of this research indicate that the validation criteria in tenn of 3 tonterial experts by two English lectures at LIIN Malmud Yunus Batusangkar, and one of English teacher at MTsN 10 Tanah Datar showed a score of 78%, with the category "valid", based on a score of 186 out of maximum score of 240 In term 3 media experts were validitated by Educational Technology. Lecturer at Padang State University, English lecturer at UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar, and one of English teacher at MTsN 10 Tanah Datar showed an 83% result, with a very valid category, based on a score of 198 out of a maximum score of 240 The avarage percentage of both was 81% which falls into the "very valid" category Meanwhile, the practicality criteria based on the teacher's response, howed an 82% result, with a very practical category, for Construct 2 lcaming media. Similarly, the data taken from student responses showed an 82% result. with a "very practical category for Construct 2 learning midis The avarage percentage of both was 82% which falls into the "very practical" category.

AZIZUL MARYATI, Reg. NO. 21 301 040 13 entitled: “DEVELOPING E-MODULE ASSISTED BY FLIP PDF PROFESSIONAL APPLICATION FOR TEACHING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT FOR GRADE XI SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS”. English Teaching Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and teacher Training. State Islamic University (UIN) Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar. The problem in this study is the lack of the available books that are in accordance with the needs of students. This study aims to develop a Genre-based approach E-Module for teaching descriptive text for grade XI senior high school students assisted by Flip PDF Professional application. In this study, Research and Development (R&D) design was used. The R&D model used in this study was the 4D model which is divided into three steps: define, design, and develop. The instruments used were an interview guide, a students' need analysis questionnaire, and a validation sheet of the E-module. The collected data were analyzed by using a descriptive qualitative method for data obtained from interviews, and a descriptive statistic for data collected from the students' need analysis questionnaire, and from the validation sheet. The findings show that the students of grade XI in SMA N 2 Lintau Buo need to learn descriptive text clearly and structurally but struggle with vocabulary, grammar, and writing, while they prefer an interactive module with videos, pictures, and audio on everyday topics. Moreover, the teacher noted that the textbook does not meet their needs, emphasizing the importance of a new E-module to support learning in this digital era. The design of the developed Descriptive text E-module based on the Genre-based approach assisted by the Flip PDF Professional application consists of the cover, acknowledgment, table of contents, glossary, and introduction, which include learning objective, learning activities that follow the concept of Genre-based approach learning, evaluation, answer key and scoring guide, and bibliography, which all of this are structurally organized to make the students easy to follow the flow of the E-module. The validity score of the Descriptive text E-module based on the Genre-based approach assisted by the Flip PDF Professional application meets the “very valid” category based on validator assessment on the aspect of content, language, and graphics, an average of 89,01%.

The problem of this study is the unrevealed difficulties faced by English Pre-service teacher in designing descriptive text module. The purpose of this study is to find out the difficulties faced by English pre-service teachers in designing core components of descriptive text module. This research uses a qualitative approach. The informants of this research were students of English Department who’s done pre-service teaching program at 2024/2025 academic year and designing descriptive text module at senior high schools. The informants were 5 people. In this study, the researcher acted as a key instrument and the interview guide as a supporting instrument. In collecting data, the researcher conducted interviews with the informants. Furthermore, in analysing the data, data reduction, data display, and data verification were used. To test the trustworthiness of the data, triangulation was used to confirm unclear information in previous interviews. The results showed that there are few difficulties that faced by English pre-service teacher in designing descriptive text module namely 1) Difficulty in Setting Learning Objectives, 2) Difficulty Choosing an Appropriate Level of Material Difficulty, 3) Difficulty in Determining the Right Assessment Format, 4) Difficulties in Designing Authentic and Varied Assessments, 5) Lack of Understanding of the Concept of Meaningful Understanding, 6) Difficulty in Designing Effective Triggering Questions, 7) Difficulty in Implementing the GBA (Genre-Based Approach) Learning Model for Active Student Participation, 8) Difficulty Adjusting Learning Activities to the Right Materials, 9) Difficulty Designing Engaging Learning Activities, 10) Difficulty in Designing Learning Activities that Accommodate Various Student Learning Styles, 11) Difficulty Assessing Learning Effectiveness, 12) Difficulty Determining the Right Form of Reflection, 13) Difficulty Designing Reflections that Help Learners Reflect on Learning.

Berlian Putri Nugroho, NIM 20230104009, judul skripsi STUDENTS’ OPINIONS ON THE USE OF NUMBERED HEADS TOGETHER TECHNIQUE IN TEACHING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT AT SMA N 1 X KOTO DIATAS Program Studi Tadris Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Ilmu Keguruan, Universitas Islam Negeri Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar. Terdapat beberapa masalah yang teridentifikasi dalam pembelajaran descriptive text, masalah tersebut seperti seringkali dalam satu kelompok diskusi, hanya ada satu siswa yang benar-benar aktif dan berpartisipasi dalam mengerjakan tugas, sedangkan dua siswa lainnya kurang fokus dan tidak terlibat dalam pembelajaran. Selain itu, terdapat perbedaan pendapat siswa dalam menanggapi penggunaan teknik NHT. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pendapat siswa dan mendeskripsikan kelebihan, kekurangan yang paling sering disebutkan dalam penggunaan teknik Numbered Heads Together dalam pengajaran teks deskriptif di SMA N 1 X Koto Diatas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain survei. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa Kelas Sepuluh di SMAN 1 X Koto Diatas, yang berjumlah 54 siswa, dan seluruh populasi ini diambil sebagai sampel. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner yang terdiri dari 66 pernyataan tertutup yang didistribusikan melalui Google Form untuk memudahkan pengumpulan data. Setelah data terkumpul, langkah selanjutnya adalah memvalidasi data tersebut, dan dari proses validasi ini ditemukan bahwa terdapat 50 item yang valid. Data yang valid ini kemudian diuji reliabilitasnya menggunakan perangkat lunak statistik SPSS untuk memastikan konsistensi dan keandalan data. Hasil dari proses validasi dan uji reliabilitas ini kemudian dianalisis dan dilaporkan dalam bentuk laporan penelitian yang menyeluruh, yang mencakup analisis deskriptif dari data yang terkumpul serta interpretasi hasil yang diperoleh berdasarkan tujuan penelitian. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa teknik NHT mendapatkan respon positif (67,71%) dengan keuntungan yang sering disebutkan oleh siswa yakni adanya interaksi yang simultan (75%), guru menyesuaikan materi dengan kemampuan siswa, dan siswa yang lebih pandai membantu siswa yang kurang pandai (75%) melalui pemodelan teman sebaya dalam belajar teks deskriptif. Menurut pendapat siswa teknik NHT dapat mengurangi dominasi siswa yang memiliki kemampuan akademis lebih (72.23%), mendapatkan dorongan dari tutor sebaya (70.40%). Siswa merasa bahwa teknik ini dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa (69.90%), dan mendorong partisipasi yang setara (67.60%). Selain itu, siswa juga merasakan adanya saling ketergantungan yang positif (67.30%), akuntabilitas individu (60.47%). Mereka juga berpendapat adanya peningkatan motivasi belajar (59.87%), dan peningkatan prestasi akademik (59.30%). Mengenai kelemahan NHT, meskipun kelemahan teknik ini tidak mendapatkan mendapat banyak persetujuan. Namun, perlu dicatat bahwa teknik NHT dapat berpotensi membuat siswa merasa terintimidasi dan cemas (49.53%). Selain itu, teknik ini juga berpotensi menimbulkan dominasi oleh siswa yang berbakat dan ekstrovert (49.10%).

No. 2030104024, thesis title: “STUDENTS' DIFFICULTIES IN UNDERSTANDING DESCRIPTIVE TEXTS (A STUDY OF THE SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP N 3 BATUSANGKAR ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023” Department of English Tadris, Faculty of Tarbiyah, Mahmud Yunus State Islamic University (UIN) Batusangkar. The problem in this study is that the difficulties of SMP N 3 Batusangkar students in understanding descriptive text have not been revealed. This research aims to identify the difficulties experienced by students in understanding descriptive text. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The population in this study consists of seventh-grade students of SMP N 3 Batusangkar for the 2022/2023 academic year. The sample was taken using purposive sampling technique, and data were collected through interviews with students who had difficulty understanding descriptive text, as indicated by their scores below the KKM in English subjects. The researcher interviewed 10 students with scores below the KKM. The results showed five types of difficulties students experience in understanding descriptive text: 1) difficulties in understanding the meaning of words, 2) difficulty in making inferences, 3) difficulty in determining the main idea, 4) difficulty in identifying references, and 5) difficulty in recalling information.

ABSTRACT RONI SAPUTRA, Reg No. 1930104060, Thesis Title: Students' Difficulties In Designing Module Of Descriptive Text For English Subject (A Case Study of Implementing Independent Curriculum on English Pre-Service Teacher at Tenth Grade Students Senior High School in 2023). The problem in this research is that it has not revealed the various difficulties experienced by students who carry out field experience practice in designing modules on descriptive text material in the tenth grade of high school in 2023. The aim of this research is to describe the difficulties experienced by students who carry out field experience practice in designing modules on descriptive text material and how to overcome these difficulties. The research method used is a qualitative case study approach. The informants for this research were 5 English students from the English Language Teaching Department, Uin Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar, Academic Year 2022/2023 who had carried out practical field experiences determined by the Purposive Sampling technique. In this research, the researcher functions as the key instrument in collecting data, assisted by supporting instruments in the form of interview guides. To test the validity of the data, the researcher triangulated the data by comparing the first and second interviews. Next, to analyze the data, researchers used the theory of Miles and Huberman (1994), namely by reducing data, presenting data, verifying data and drawing conclusions. The research results show that students' difficulties in designing modules on descriptive text material include lack of mastering of the Pancasila profile, lack of time adjustment, lack of mastery of assessment, lack of ability to create questions, lack of mastering the independent curriculum

RAHUL KUSUMA, NIM. 1930104052, Thesis Title: TEACHING DESCRIPTIVE TEXTS OF ENGLISH SUBJECT (A Case Study of Pre-Service English Teacher Implementing Independent Curriculum for Tenth Grade Students Senior High School in 2023/2024 Academic Year) English Education Study Program, Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty, State Islamic University Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar. The problem in this study was that it has not revealed various ways of English pre-service teacher in teaching descriptive text in the implementation of the independent curriculum. The research method used is Case Study. This case study aims to investigate the implementation of an independent curriculum in teaching descriptive text to tenth-grade students at the Pre-Service English Teacher. The informants of this research were five English pre-service teachers majoring in English Teaching Department in the academic year 2023 who were determined by Purposive Sampling technique. In this study, the researcher functions as a key instrument in data collection assisted by supporting instruments in the form of interview guidelines. To test the validity of the data, the researcher conducted time triangulation data by comparing the first and second interviews. Furthermore, to analyze the data, Researcher used the theory of Miles and Huberman (1994), namely by reducing data, displaying data, verifying data and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the English pre-service teachers were implemented independent curriculum in teaching descriptive text although not doing well. English Pre-service teachers have carried out teaching according to the independent curriculum as possible ability. However, there are still many shortcomings in implementing an independent curriculum such in Genre Based Intruction and not implementing differentiated learning as well.
