RAHAYU SURYANI, NIM 15300600052, Judul Skripsi: “Pengembangan Bahan Ajar Biologi Bermuatan Cerita Pendek (Cerpen) berbasis Character Building Materi Sistem Pertahanan Tubuh Kelas XI IPA MAN 1 Pasaman”. Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Ilmu Keguruan Jurusan Pendidikan Biologi IAIN Batusangkar.
Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana validitas dan praktikalitas pengembangan bahan ajar Biologi bermuatan cerita pendek (cerpen) berbasis character building. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar Biologi bermuatan cerita pendek (cerpen) berbasis character building yang valid dan praktis. Manfaat penelitian ini adalah sebagai salah satu syarat dalam menyelesaikan program sarjana, Jurusan Tadris Biologi di IAIN Batusangkar, sebagai bekal pengetahuan dan pengalaman bagi penulis yang nantinya bisa diterapkan di sekolah serta menambah wawasan di dalam mengembangkan bahan ajar Biologi.
Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian pengembangan. Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model 4-D yaitu: define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Penelitian ini hanya dilakukan sampai tahap develop. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penyebaran angket, observasi dan wawancara. Instrumen pengumpulan data yaitu lembar validasi, lembar angket respon siswa, lembar observasi dan lembar pedoman wawancara. Teknik analisis data menggunakan rumus Riduwan (2005) untuk menentukan validitas dan praktikalitas hasil penelitian.
Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan diketahui bahwa bahan ajar Biologi bermuatan cerita pendek (cerpen) berbasis character building dihasilkan bersifat sangat valid dengan perolehan rata-rata 86,5%. Sedangkan hasil uji praktikalitas melalui angket respon siswa dikategorikan sangat praktis dengan rata-rata 87,14%. Sehingga bahan ajar Biologi bermuatan cerpen berbasis character building materi sistem kekebalan tubuh dapat digunakan di dalam pembelajaran Biologi.

Teacher plays an essential role in education process. The success of a learning process in changing students behavior depends on how well the teacher treat the students. The teachers also have to be a good model for the student in every classroom interaction. Teaching English will be meaningful when the teacher can integrate the teaching process into the development of students’ character. When the students behave with proper manner in society, the education process can be said meet the goal of education. Any subject matter in education needs to concern about this issue, especially in English language teaching. The students are not only taught about the linguistic structure of the language but also how their character can be built through the classroom interaction. This paper aims to give an overview about the teachers’ role in building student’s character through English language teaching classroom. It is dealing with what is the nature of character and its importance in education. It also describes the roles of teacher as character educator and how to integrate character education into English language teaching which can be done through some way, such as habituation, integrating character education into English material, cooperative learning in English teaching classroom and Instructional Media of English Teaching.
