Abstrak
ASYRAF FUADI, Reg No. 1930104013, thesis title “Students’ Foreign Language Enjoyment: Its Impacts on Students’ English Learning at UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar” Department of Tadris Language, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teaching Sciences, State Islamic University (UIN) Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar. The study explores the role of positive emotions, such as enjoyment, in the language learning process. This research aims to determine the level of foreign language students' enjoyment in mastering English and the overall learning environment. This research was conducted because students' level of foreign language enjoyment has not yet been revealed, including the collaborative learning approach emphasized at universities. The design of this study used descriptive qualitative research and phenomenological methodology. The informant of this research were English Teaching Department students of UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar for the academic year 2023/2024 totaling 4 people who have enjoyment in foreign language at UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar determined by purposive sampling techniques. In this study, researcher functioned as a key instrument in data collection, assisted by supporting instruments in the form of interview guidelines, voice recorders and camera for documentation. Next, in analyzing the data, the researcher used data reduction, data display, and data verification. Based on research findings and discussion Students’ Foreign Language Enjoyment: Its Impacts On Students’ English Learning At Uin Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar. The impact included: 1) Easy to understand the meaning of the song in English, 2) Has a lot of vocabulary, 3) Know the types of tenses used in English, 4) Improve pronunciation in speaking English, 5) Can speak fluent English.
