<em>This study focuses on the strengthening research culture through research-based learning in universities. This is a library research whose data source from reference books, scientific journals, proceedings, magazines, legislation and similar research results accessed through libraries and open journal systems. The data collection is conducted by compiling data in accordance with sub-problems which are then systematically organized. Data analysis is done by content analysis techniques to obtain theories or concepts and research results that are able to answer research problems. The results of this study indicate; 1) research is an important approach to improving the quality of learning, 2) to strengthen the culture of research at least there are four integrated focuses; (a) learning the latest research in lectures, (b) teaching research techniques or methods in each lecture taught by lecturers, (c) learning involving students to conduct research, and (d) discussion, debate or brainstorming to criticize research. 3) the benefits of PBR for students are; (a) students become usual in doing thesis because they are familiar with how to research, (b) trained to think, analyze, express and defend ideas, (c) trained to work in a planned manner, (d) trained to work hard, and (e) trained work in teams, connect with other people and collaborate.</em>

<p>The purpose of this study was to develop tree chart media used to teach writing narration at the fifth grade of elementary school level. The research design was Research and Development with ADDIE model. The subjects of the research were the students and teacher at the fifth class of SDI Al-Azhar Muhammadiyah Simabur. The research instruments were 1) the expert and practitioner validity assessment sheets, 2) practicality instruments such as, lesson plans, questionnaire of teacher and student response of practicality, and validity assessment sheets, and 3) effectivity instrument namely students’ writing test result. The data were analyzed descriptively. The result shows that the developed teaching materials were extremely valid indicated by both expert validity gain 92% and practitioner validity gain 93%. In terms of practicality, the teaching materials were very practical indicated by both teacher response 93.3% and the student response 92.9%. At last, the effectivity was shown by the students activity while doing writing. In summary, the tree chart-based-teaching media in teaching writing narration is valid, practical, and effective to the fifith grade students.</p>

This research is motivated by the fact that there is no standardized rubric in assessing students’ performance either in performing the duties or in measuring the ability of students, especially for the subject of History of Islamic Culture taught to the students of Islamic Religious Education at IAIN Batusangkar. This research is a development research using Instructional Development Institute (IDI) model. The development procedure starts from planning, in the form of preliminary research and information gathering, until expert validation and product practice test. In the stage of expert validation, there are three aspects reviewed in the rubric developed, such as the material, construction and language aspects. Then, based on the three experts’ validation results, it is shown that this authentic scoring rubric has very valid criteria on material aspects with an average of 3.57. In aspects of construction rubric authentic assessment also has a very valid criteria with an average of 3.67 while the language aspect obtained an average of 3.23 with the category is very valid. Hence, overall an authentic scoring rubric developed based on expert validation results has a very valid criterion with an average value of 3.53, whereas the authentic assessment rubric practicality analysis is known that this rubric is very practical to use, with a practicality value of 890.63 and an average practical value of 89.06 with a very practical category.

<em>The thinking skill teaching model which is based on metacognitive theory is a teaching method that requires students' skills in managing and controlling themselves to develop their thinking ability. The developed thinking skill model refers to four types of skills, namely problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, critical and creative thinking skills. The teaching model is developed to teach students’ thinking ability. This is a research and development study that adopts Borg & Gall (1989) steps consisting of four stages, namely (1) Collecting information (including literature review, observation of existing tools and creating research framework); (2) Designing (formulating research objectives, estimating funds and time required and research work procedures); (3) Developing initial product form (initial draft of product design); and (4) conducting initial field trials. Based on the result of the research, it is found that 1) the developed thinking skill model is the research that tries to develop a learning model to develop and improve students' thinking ability, 2) the theoretical foundation of the development of this thinking skill model is metacognitive theory, 3) the product validation result generated, in the form of modules and assessment instruments, is in valid category, because the products produced is in line with the theoretical basis used, 4) based on the practicality of the product, in the form of modules and valuation instruments, it was found that it is in the practical category, meaning that the resulted product is applicable in teaching students’ thinking capability.</em>

<em>This study was inspired by the reality that memorizing the Quran had become an activity which was avoided by most of students and uninteresting as well due to its ineffectiveness of the memorizing methods. Dealing with the phenomena, this study aimed at figuring out how One Day Three Lines method was applied di MTsN 01 Limapuluh Kota, and related factors that supported or inhibited the implementation of the method in memorizing the Quran. This study belonged to descriptive quantitative design employing evaluative model of CIPP (Contexs, Input, Proses dan Produc) Method. The data were collected through participant observation, in depth interview, questionnaire, and documentation. Data analysis were carry out by checking data trustworthiness obtained from observation, interview, documentation to figure out the context and product evaluations of One Day Three Lines memorizing method. Questionnaire was used to assess respondents’ attitude toward the method. The findings showed that One Day Three Lines memorizing method applied in MTsN 01 Lima Puluh Kota was categorized effective with an average percentage was 71.9%</em>

<p><em>It is a fact that good values as well as Islamic velues are dicreased in the recent year. It could be caused by several reasons such as the act of amoral and anarchis. In order to overcome this problem, wholistical approach could be used. One of the approaches is using spiritual teistic counselling. This approach is based on Islamic values which derived from prophetic character. It developes one’s natural tendency (fitrah), critical thinking, and attitude in parallel with Islamic value. <p><em>This research was inspired from the result of a research under the title: “Analisis kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis mahassiswa program studi tadris matematika.” This research was done to know and describe how was the students’ ability to solve mathematic probelm as math teacher candidate in Geometri Transformasi subject registered in 2012/2013 academic year of Mathematic department of Tarbiyah Faculty of STAIN Batusangkar. The design of this research was the combination of quantitative and qualitative by using descriptive approach. The instrument of this research was test and interview. The data was analyzed through data triangulation, data reduction, data presentation, and making conclusion. <p><em>The reality of students’ negative attitude made Indonesia goverment had not moved forward nowadays. Most people judged that educational system should take the responsibility to this condition. Education was assumed laying on students’ cognitive rather than affective and conative. Reliazing this phenomena, counceling as a part of education offered group counceling as one strategy of character education based playing games. <p><em>The main objective of learning English is using English as a means of communication. One of the ways for the teachers to make </em><em>the students</em><em> use English as a means of communicationis using appropriate techniques which match with the learners’ characteristics in teaching speaking. Unfortunately, the fact shows that many teachers still do not know the appropriate techniques to teach speaking for </em><em>the students</em><em>. They frequently teach speaking using translation and memorizing techniques, whereas, those techniques are not appropriate with the characteristics of young learners. In this case, the teachers have to know the applicable techniques for teaching speaking to </em><em>the students</em><em> to achieve the main objective of teaching English. <p><em>The problem of this reseach was the lack of the teachers’ knowledge and understanding about the evaluation of students’ achievement. This research was descriptive research (correlation research). The population of this research was all Islamic elementary school teachers at Tanah Datar regency. They are about 319 teachers. The sample of this research was 98 teachers. The sample was selected by using stratified propotional random sampling technique that is through cohcran technique. The instrument of this research was questionnaire (Linkert scale). The evaluation of students’ achievement was variable Y, and supervisors’ supervision was variable X2. And, the teachers’ knowledge of evaluation (variable X1) was analyzed by using objective test.The result of the research showed that: 1) there is any correlation between the teachers’ understanding of avaluation to the teachers’ achievement of evaluation of Islamic teachers at elemeantary schools at Tanah Datar regency, 2) there is any correlation between the supervisors’ supervision to the teachers’ achievement of evaluation of Islamic teachers at elemeantary schools at Tanah Datar regency, 3) the teachers’ anderstanding and their supervision of evaluation influenced the teachers’ achievement of evaluation of Islamic teachers at elemeantary schools at Tanah Datar regency</em><em>.</em><em></em></p><strong>Kata kunci</strong>: pengetahuan evaluasi, supervisi pengawas, kinerja evaluasi guru

<p><em>This research was motivated by a fact that some of students of mathematics study program at STAIN Batusangkar have low ability in mathematics communication and mathematics disposition on Geometry subject. This is indicated by the students’ inability to answer the questions on mathematics communication. In order to solve this problem, the researcher designed a research on learning strategy using Problem-based in Geometry subject. This research applied experimental method using randomized control group only design. The population of this research was the third semester students registered in 2014/2015 academic year. They consisted of three classes. The data were taken from the final test of each sample. The research findings show that the two hypotheses were accepted. Therefore, students’ ability was better in mathematics communication by applying learning strategy using problem-based than conventional learning. To solve this problem, a good method has to be promoted in order to improve students’ motivation and their ability in Mathematics. The findings show that the teachers were able to integrate PAI instructional materials into health programs conducted by the school. Such integration was especially carried out by means of topic on thaharah. In addition, the teachers took active participation in any health service program at the school. This research was an action research. The subject of this research were 20 junior high school councellors who were accomodated in MGMP (Musyawarah Guru Pembimbing) in Padang Panjang regency. This research applied cyclical process that consisted of some cycles. Therefore, in this research plan, action, observation, and reflection were done in two cycles depended on the achievement of the research objective. Based on the data analysis and discussion, it was found that the students’ ability in finding solution was good.
