Design of a Program Linkage and Communication Mechanism for the Ge 645 Computer System

A generic technique for effecting both intra-computer and inter-computer program communications is briefly summarized. The design specification for the implementation of this technique on the GE-645 computer system is described. The structure and organization of the hardware mechanism through which the programs are linked and the necessary support software to facilitate its use are both considered. The basic feature of the technique is the insertion of a Buffer File into each data flow path from one program to another. A Buffer File Control Word containing control and state information is associated with each Buffer File. The hardware mechanism provides a capability for simultaneously manipulating up to eight Buffer File Control Words, symbolically referencing them in a program, and verifying and controlling a Buffer File's access rights. Referring to three commercialised spiritual centres, the Paguyuban Tritunggal [PTT], the Bhakti Nusantara [BN], and the Bioenergi, I will show how spirituality is constructed, transformed, and commodified in this city.

Changing Landscapes of Singapore illuminates both the social and the physical terrains of modern Singapore. Geographers use the term landscape to refer to visible surfaces and to the spatial dimension of social relations. Landscapes arise from particular historical circumstances, and in turn help shape social arrangements and possible courses of future development. The authors describe how the settings inhabited by various social groups in Singapore affect life experiences, and explore the impact of broader regional and international forces on Singapore. Written for non-specialists, the volume reflects fresh perspectives from the scholarship of Singaporean academics. Fiscal pressures, rising health care costs, and increases in the number of uninsured may lead states to look toward public-private partnerships to help finance health insurance (HI) coverage. Through Medicaid and the State CHIP, states have authority to operate premium assistance programs that subsidize the purchase of private HI. This report describes states' premium assistance programs, including the: (1) funding source, operating authority, and type of private HI coverage subsidized; (2) policies regarding eligibility and enrollment; (3) benefits, premiums, and cost sharing; (4) expenditures and cost-effectiveness policies; and (5) challenges program officials reported in implementing and operating such programs.
