Resilience to Climate Change at Taunsa Barrage, Pakistan

Protected areas around the world are more prone to have negative effects of climatic variations that are disturbing the stabilization of ecosystems. Taunsa Barrage Wildlife Sanctuary was studied to be the reference site, where climatic change factors were recorded and resilience of rural community to these changes was analyzed. A questionnaire of participatory human resource interaction appraisal was used to assess the socio-economics of rural communities, perception of local communities about climate change and their resilience capacity. Climatic factor like temperature and rainfall were proportionally changed as the data assessed from 1951-2010 and rural communities around Taunsa Barrage Wildlife Sanctuary were also agreed to realize the phenomenon of climatic change. These communities have proved to be resilient, but at the same time they have increased the pressure on natural resource use. Thus, showing the Taunsa Barrage's vulnerability to climate change is in accordance with the Environmental Vulnerability Index of Pakistan.

During the Abbasid period, Muslim culture and civilization was at its zenith. It was a period of economic prosperity and of great intellectual awakening. The Abbasid Caliphate provided the most congenial atmosphere for the advancement of learning and education. In fact, the reign of Mamun-ar-Rashid who has deservedly been called the 'Augustus of Arabs' formed the culmination of the intellectual achievements of the Muslims. He was followed by a brilliant succession of Caliphs who continued his work. Muslims gained access to the Greek medical knowledge of Hippocrates, Discords, and Galen through the translations of their works in the seventh and eighth centuries. These initiatives by Muslims could be seen in the different aspects of the healing arts that were developed. The translation movement of the twelfth century in Latin Europe affected every known field of science, none more so than medicine. The present paper is an attempt to give a detailed contribution of Muslims to science with special reference to medicine. It is in this context the present paper has been analyzed.

PENGARUH LAYANAN PERENCANAAN INDIVIDUAL TERHADAP PERENCANAAN KARIR SISWA DI SMAN 1 AMPEK ANGKEK BIARO

Pembahasan ini berawal dari permasalahan yaitu bagaimana perencanaan karir siswa SMA. Perencanaan karir merupakan kemampuan siswa dalam merencanakan dan memilih karir sesuai dengan kemampuan diri tanpa bergantung pada orang lain terutama orang tua yang terlihat dari memahami dan menerima diri sendiri dan lingkungan secara objektif, positif, dan dinamis, kemampuan mengambil keputusan, mengarahkan diri sendiri, dan mewujudkan diri sendiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan memperoleh data tentang perencanaan karir siswa SMA. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMAN 1 Ampek Angkek Biaro. Adapun teknik pengambilan sampel di sekolah tersebut dengan cara simple random sampling, dari pengambilan sampel tersebut maka terpilihlah dua kelas yakni kelas XI MIPA VI dan XI IPS III yang berjumlah 59 orang siswa. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan menganalisis tingkat perencanaan karir siswa SMA. Pengukuran seberapa matang perencanaan karir yaitu dengan menggunakan angket yang terdiri dari 40 butir pernyataan, dengan 5 pilihan jawaban. Berdasarkan data penelitian yang telah dianalisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa perencanaan karir siswa kelas XI SMAN 1 Ampek Angkek Biaro sudah tergolong matang. Terlihat dari 59 orang siswa yang menjadi sampel penelitian diantaranya berada pada klasifikasi sangat matang 3 orang siswa dan pada klasifikasi matang 38 orang siswa dan 18 orang berada pada kategori cukup matang. Hal ini terbukti dari hasil penelitian yang penulis lakukan. Berdasarkan analisis hasil statistik terdapat pengaruh layanan perencanaan individual terhadap perencanaan karir siswa secara signifikan jika dilihat pada taraf 5 %.
