Abstrak
This research aims to develop English learning media for teaching reading recount texts by using the iSpring Suite application. The background of this study lies in the limited use of interactive media in English classrooms, which reduces students’ motivation and engagement. Therefore, this study focused on designing and developing a learning application that corresponds to teachers’ needs as facilitators and supports students’ reading comprehension.This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Holistic 4D Model by Reigeluth and An (2021). Three stages were carried out: Define, Design, and Develop, which involved identifying teachers’ needs, designing media, and producing the final product. Data were collected using two instruments: (1) a needs analysis questionnaire distributed to three English teachers from SMA Negeri 1, SMA Negeri 2, and SMA Negeri 3 in Batusangkar, and (2) expert validation questionnaires using a Likert Scale to evaluate the media. The validation involved two experts, namely a media expert and a material expert.The results indicate that the developed media was categorized as “Suitable.” The average validation score given by the material expert was 4.10, while the media expert gave 4.30. These findings demonstrate that the iSpring Suite-based application is feasible and effective for classroom use, particularly in teaching recount texts. Furthermore, the media helps teachers integrate technology in their teaching practices and enhances students’ learning motivation in reading activities.
