Research Design for Social Work and the Human Services integrates a range of research techniques into a single epistemological framework and presents a balanced approach to the teaching of research methods in the "helping professions." Jeane W. Anastas begins with a discussion of the different philosophical perspectives within which social research occurs and continues with problem formulation, research design, and methodological issues influencing data collection, analysis, and dissemination. She presents both fixed (quantitative) and flexible (qualitative) methods of research, granting legitimacy, value, utility, and relevance to both styles of inquiry. Utilizing complete case studies to illustrate different methodological approaches, Research Design for Social Work and the Human Services integrates material on women and people of color, and draws attention to the ways racism, heterosexism, sexism, and classism affect the conceptualization and conduct of research. Masalah pokok dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana hubungan status ekonomi orang tua dengan prokrastinasi akademik siswa kelas XI MAN 2 Batusangkar. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa besar hubungan status ekonomi orang tua dengan prokrastinasi akademik siswa kelas XI MAN 2 Batusangkar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian korelasional. Dalam penelitian ini yang menjadi populasi adalah siswa-siswi kelas XI MAN 2 Batusangkar yang berjumlah 235 orang siswa dengan sampel penelitian berjumlah 40 orang siswa yang diambil secara acak (simple random sampling). Penulis menggunakan skala Likert untuk memperoleh data tentang prokrastinasi akademik siswa, sedangkan untuk memperoleh data tentang status ekonomi orang tua, penulis menggunakan teknik dokumentasi. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik uji korelasional Product Moment yang penulis olah secara manual. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara status ekonomi orang tua dengan prokrastinasi akademik siswa kelas XI MAN 2 Batusangkar dengan indeks korelasi positif. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari rhitung yang diperoleh lebih besar dari rtabel. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah semakin tinggi status ekonomi orang tua maka akan semakin jarang prokrastinasi akademik yang dilakukan oleh siswa, dan semakin rendah status ekonomi orang tua maka akan semakin sering prokrastinasi akademik yang dilakukan siswa.

Economic modernity is so closely associated with nationhood that it is impossible to imagine a modern state without an equally modern economy. Even so, most people would have difficulty defining a modern economy and its connection to nationhood. In Saving the Nation, Margherita Zanasi explores this connection by examining the first nation-building attempt in China after the fall of the empire in 1911. Challenging the assumption that nations are products of technological and socioeconomic forces, Zanasi argues that it was notions of what constituted a modern nation that led the Nationalist nation-builders to shape China’s institutions and economy. In their reform effort, they confronted several questions: What characterized a modern economy? What role would a modern economy play in the overall nation-building effort? And how could China pursue economic modernization while maintaining its distinctive identity? Zanasi expertly shows how these questions were negotiated and contested within the Nationalist Party. Silenced in the Mao years, these dilemmas are reemerging today as a new leadership once again redefines the economic foundation of the nation.
This book contains extended and revised versions of a set of selected papers from two workshops organized by the Euro Working Group on Decision Support Systems (EWG-DSS), which were held in Thessaloniki, Greece, and Rome, Italy, in May and July 2013. From a total of 45 submissions, 15 papers were accepted for publication in this edition after being reviewed by at least three internationally known experts from the EWG-DSS Program Committee and external invited reviewers. The selected papers are representative of current research activities in the area of operational research and decision support systems, focusing on topics such as decision-making using social networks and Web resources; spatio-temporal Web-based decision making; group support systems; technical, legal, and social aspects of decision making; knowledge management and decision support systems; business intelligence and data warehousing; and negotiation support systems.
