English Teaching Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, State Islamic University Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar. This research was motivated by the lack of understanding of students' perception toward strategy used by the lecturer in teaching the Literature for ELT subject. The objective of this study was to determine students' perception toward strategy used by the lecturer in teaching the Literature for ELT subject. This research employed a quantitative method with a survey cross-sectional design. The population for this study consisted of 75 students of English Teaching Department at UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar who had taken the Literature for ELT subject during the Academic Year 2021/2022. The sample was selected using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique, resulting in 31 students as the tryout sample and 44 students as the research sample. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire instrument measuring students' perception toward strategy used by the lecturer in Literature for ELT subject. Prior to distribution, the questionnaire was tryout tested with 80 statement items. From the tryout results, 64 valid statements were identified while 16 statements were discarded. Consequently, the questionnaire administered to the research sample consisted of 64 statements. Once the data was collected, it was analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis employing the SPSS version 29 computer program and Microsoft Excel with the formula P=F/N × 100%. The research findings indicated that students' perception toward strategy used by the lecturer in Literature for ELT subject were positive, with a percentage of 80%. It can be concluded that the strategy utilized by the lecturer can be recommended as one of the appropriate teaching strategies for students in the Literature for ELT subject.
