Transactional Memory
The advent of multicore processors has renewed interest in the idea of incorporating transactions into the programming model used to write parallel programs. This approach, known as transactional memory, offers an alternative, and hopefully better, way to coordinate concurrent threads. The ACI (atomicity, consistency, isolation) properties of transactions provide a foundation to ensure that con-current reads and writes of shared data do not produce inconsistent or incorrect results. At a higher level, a computation wrapped in a transaction executes atomically---either it completes successfully and commits its result in its entirety or it aborts. In addition, isolation ensures the transaction produces the same result as if no other transactions were executing concurrently. Although transactions are not a parallel programming panacea, they shift much of the burden of synchronizing and co-ordinating parallel computations from a programmer to a compiler, to a language runtime system, or to hardware. The challenge for the system implementers is to build an efficient transactional memory infrastructure. This book presents an overview of the state of the art in the design and implementation of transactional memory systems, as of early spring 2010.

Examination System
Examination is as old as education itself. The examination process is the past phase of teaching and learning. Traditionally, the examination, has been a very tough exercise, fearful enough for students. However, with changing times, the procedure of conventional examination has changed. Now, the modern concept of examination is quite progressive and scientific. The educationists have introduced new terms like evaluation and measurement. Under evaluation, the level of knowledge and learning is weighted and under measurement, a learner is gauged and allotted score of marks.
Particle Adhesion and Removal
The book provides a comprehensive and easily accessible reference source covering all important aspects of particle adhesion and removal. The core objective is to cover both fundamental and applied aspects of particle adhesion and removal with emphasis on recent developments. Among the topics to be covered include: 1. Fundamentals of surface forces in particle adhesion and removal. 2. Mechanisms of particle adhesion and removal. 3. Experimental methods (e.g. AFM, SFA,SFM,IFM, etc.) to understand particle-particle and particle-substrate interactions. 4. Mechanics of adhesion of micro- and nanoscale particles. 5. Various factors affecting particle adhesion to a variety of substrates. 6. Surface modification techniques to modulate particle adhesion. 7. Various cleaning methods (both wet & dry) for particle removal. 8. Relevance of particle adhesion in a host of technologies ranging from simple to ultra-sophisticated.

Precomputation-Based Rendering
Precomputation-Based Rendering presents a unified mathematical view of precomputation-based rendering, while discussing its motivation, history and current and future research directions. It goes back to some of the early origins of precomputation-based rendering in replaying offline solutions for image relighting. Following this, it describes the new innovations in terms of environment maps and spherical harmonic convolution that inspired the PRT method of Sloan et al. in 2002, the approach that for the first time brought precomputation-based ideas into the mainstream of real-time rendering. It goes on to discuss a number of new innovations in this field over the past six years, to all-frequency effects, changing lighting and view, reflectance editing, dynamic scenes and lighting design. Precomputation-Based Rendering is an invaluable reference for students and computer graphics researchers. It will also be of interest to professional graphics practitioners.
