AN ANALYSIS OF THE HADICAL STORY OF PROPHET IBRAHIM AND SARAH WITH A ZHOLIM KING AS A TEACHING MATERIAL IN ISLAMIC EDUCATION
In the world of education, a delivery of stories is one of the effective strategies to deliver educational materials to children or learners. As the matter of facts, sometimes the stories told to the children or learners are taken from untruthful sources or fairy tales that will cause a delusion in the child's mind. It is important for parents or educators to convey valued stories coming from the teachings of Islamic values, such as the stories of the previous people delivered by the Prophet Mohammad through his traditions. The purpose of this study is to examine the editorial accounts of the story of the prophet Abraham and Sarah with the zholim King, and to know the understanding of the hadith and the educational analysis associated with this hadith. To obtain the information on the hadith about the story, the researcher uses a takhrîj hadith method, in as much as, it was found there are various relevant hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad related to the story. These hadiths have been analyzed for their historical qualities and linked them with Islamic education materials.
THE CONTRIBUTION OF SYEKH ABDUL KARIM AMRULLAH’ S THOUGHTS IN ISLAMIC EDUCATION AND ITS RELEVANCE TO CURRENT ISSUES
This paper aims at describing the educational system established by Sheikh Abdul Karim Amrullah and its relevance in the present day. This is a library research using a biographical research method. Sources of data are documents related to the roles of Sheikh Abdul Karim Amrullah in Islamic education. In addition, the researcher also conducted interviews and observation in Madrasah Thawalib Padang Panjang. The result shows that the Madrasah still maintains the main purpose of education proposed by Sheikh Abdul Karim Amrullah as the founding father. Moreover the Madrasah, beside implementing the old curriculum, has adjusted to the national education standard by incorporating general learning materials in today’s teaching.
DEVELOPMENT OF A THINKING SKILL TEACHING MODEL IN DISAIN PEMBELAJARAN SUBJECT
The thinking skill teaching model which is based on metacognitive theory is a teaching method that requires students' skills in managing and controlling themselves to develop their thinking ability. The developed thinking skill model refers to four types of skills, namely problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, critical and creative thinking skills. The teaching model is developed to teach students’ thinking ability. This is a research and development study that adopts Borg & Gall (1989) steps consisting of four stages, namely (1) Collecting information (including literature review, observation of existing tools and creating research framework); (2) Designing (formulating research objectives, estimating funds and time required and research work procedures); (3) Developing initial product form (initial draft of product design); and (4) conducting initial field trials. Based on the result of the research, it is found that 1) the developed thinking skill model is the research that tries to develop a learning model to develop and improve students' thinking ability, 2) the theoretical foundation of the development of this thinking skill model is metacognitive theory, 3) the product validation result generated, in the form of modules and assessment instruments, is in valid category, because the products produced is in line with the theoretical basis used, 4) based on the practicality of the product, in the form of modules and valuation instruments, it was found that it is in the practical category, meaning that the resulted product is applicable in teaching students’ thinking capability.

The Implementation and Effectiveness of International Environmental Commitments
Because environmental problems do not respect borders, their solutions often require international cooperation and agreements. The contributors to this book examine how international environmental agreements are put into practice. Their main concern is effectiveness—the degree to which such agreements lead to changes in behavior that help to solve environmental problems. Their focus is on implementation—the process that turns commitments into action, at both domestic and international levels. Implementation is the key to effectiveness because these agreements aim to constrain not just governments but a wide array of actors, including individuals, firms, and agencies whose behavior does not change simply because governments have made international commitments. The book is divided into two parts. Part I looks at international systems for implementation review, through which parties share information, review performance, handle noncompliance, and adjust commitments. Part II looks at implementation at the national level, with particular attention to participation by governmental and nongovernmental actors and to problems in states with economies in transition. The book includes fourteen case studies that cover eight major areas of international environmental regulation: conservation and preservation of fauna and flora, stratospheric ozone depletion, pollution in the Baltic Sea, pollution in the North Sea, trade in hazardous chemicals and pesticides, air pollution in Europe, whaling, and marine dumping of nuclear waste.
