Perkhidmatan yang diberikan oleh golongan profesional seperti jurutera, doktor, arkitek, peguam, akauntan dan lain-lain amat penting dalam membangun dan mempertingkatkan kesejahteraan hidup sesuatu masyarakat. Sebagai golongan yang diberikan status tinggi dalam masyarakat sudah sewajarnyalah mereka menjalankan tanggungjawab memberikan perkhidmatan itu dengan penuh dedikasi, jujur dan amanah. Walau bagaimanapun tidak dapat dinafikan yang golongan profesional ini sentiasa berhadapan dengan berbagai-bagai dilema etika yang kalau tidak ditangani dengan baik akan menjejaskan imej dan bidang kerjayanya. Kalau perbuatan ini berterusan dan berleluasa sudah pastilah masyarakat dan negara akan menanggung akibatnya. Oleh itu, pengetahuan dan kesedaran etika harus ada dikalangan semua profesional ini.
