Is is also recommended that by immersing sawn timber or prefabricated pallet for 2 h in a 1% emulsion of gamma-Benzene Hexachloride (lindane) powder-post infestation can be prevented. A 1% emusion of the chemical is obtained by mixing one part by volume of the chemical (20% emulsifiable concentrate in ninety-nine parts by volume of water. The method has been found effective and the advantages are ease of application at a reasonable cost. This treatment as become mandatory for all shipments to the USA. [Authors' abstract].
