Abstrak
ABSTRACT Firna Fanwinata (Student ID 2230109013), thesis title: “Development of Flip book Learning Media to Enhance Letter Recognition Skills in Children Aged 5–6 Years at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten, Batusangkar.” Thesis for the Early Childhood Islamic Education (PIAUD) study program, State Islamic of University (UIN) Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar. The core issue addressed in this study is the suboptimal nature of the media used to teach letter recognition to children at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten in Batusangkar, which has resulted in the children experiencing difficulties in recognizing letters. To date, the letter recognition activities conducted by teachers have relied on writing letters on the blackboard, using letter cards, and employing student worksheets. Therefore, this study aims to develop flip-book learning media to enhance letter recognition skills among early childhood students at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten in Batusangkar. The research method employed in this study is Research and Development (R&D) using Thiagarajan’s 4D model; however, the study was limited to the development stage. The data used are primary data obtained directly from the suggestions, input, and feedback of two validators and two practitioners through the completion of validation and practicality sheets. The media validation sheet covers three aspects: graphics, media, and content, while the practicality sheet covers two aspects: content and media. The research results indicate that the flip-book learning medium developed by the researcher to enhance letter recognition skills in early childhood achieved a score of 91.66% on the validity assessment (classified as "highly valid") and 92% on the practicality assessment (classified as "highly practical"). These results demonstrate that the developed flip-book learning medium is suitable for use in learning activities, as it meets the criteria for being highly valid and highly practical.
