FARHAN RAMADHAN ALVARABI, Reg. No. 2230104012, entitled “Developing Islamic English Textbook for Grade IV Islamic Elementary School Students.” English Teaching Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, State Islamic University (UIN) Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar. This research was conducted in response to the lack of teaching materials that systematically support the integration of English learning with Islamic values. Existing English textbooks used in Islamic elementary schools are often disconnected from students' religious and cultural identities, leaving teachers struggling to bridge the gap manually. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop an Islamic English textbook for Grade IV designed to integrate English learning with Islamic values in accordance with the Independent Curriculum. This study employs Research and Development (R&D) approach in the form of Educational Design Research (EDR) based on Plomp’s model, which consists of three main phases: preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment. The preliminary phase focused on identifying context Analysis, students’ and teachers’ needs, analyzing the syllabus, and reviewing existing textbooks. The prototyping phase involved designing and revising the Islamic English textbook by integrating listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills within Islamic contexts. The assessment phase was conducted through expert validation to evaluate the quality and suitability of the textbook. The results of the preliminary phase indicate that Islamic elementary schools require English materials that are linguistically accessible, visually engaging, and integrated with Islamic values. Needs analysis revealed that students prefer illustrated texts and contextual activities, while teachers struggle with the lack of resources aligned with both the Independent Curriculum and Islamic principles. In the prototyping phase, an Islamic English textbook for Grade IV was developed, consisting of six units: What Are You Doing?, Let’s Count Our Blessings!, Helping at Home is Sunnah, I Can Do Many Things, It’s Time for Maghrib!, and From Home to School. These units integrate vocabulary, dialogues, and four-skill language activities (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) within Islamic contexts. Furthermore, the assessment phase was conducted through expert validation involving material, media, and Islamic value integration experts. The mean validation scores were 4.90 for content suitability (Very Suitable), 4.20 for Islamic value integration (Suitable), and 4.30 for media quality (Suitable). These scores were interpreted using the qualification scale proposed by Riduwan (2012:15) as cited in Indriyani (2017). Based on this interpretation, the developed textbook is considered feasible for classroom use with minor revisions and suitable for supporting English learning and Islamic character development for Grade IV Islamic elementary school students.
