Abstrak
The problem in this study is the students' reasons for using DeepL application in Translation for Specific class were not yet revealed. The purpose of this study is to find out the reasons of using DeepL application in Translation for Specific Purposes class of the sixth semester students of English Department of UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar registered in 2023/2024 Academic Year. The methodology used in this research is qualitative research, with a descriptive design. The informants of this research were students who took translation class for specific purposes and students who used the DeepL application to translate. The researcher used purposive sampling technique by using Google Forms to obtain informants by asking what application they used in translation for specific purposes class, the results showed that out of 28 students, 26 of them used DeepL application. Out of 26 participants, only 4 people were selected as informants to be interviewed because the data had reached a saturation point. In this study, the researcher acted as a key instrument and the interview guideline as a supporting instrument. In collecting data, the researcher conducted interviews with informants. To test the trustworthiness of the data, data triangulation was used to increase the validity and strengthen the credibility of the data findings. Furthermore, in analyzing the data, data reduction, data display, and data verification were used. The results of this research showed that there were four reasons for using deepl application in Translation for Specific Purposes class. The reasons are; (1) DeepL is known for its great accuracy, producing translations that are precise and true to the original meaning of each translated text, (2) DeepL has an attractive and comfortable appearance, with a design that makes students feel calm and focused when translating with translations., (3) DeepL comes highly recommended by lecturers, who trust its accuracy and reliability for producing precise translations, (4) The DeepL application provides a large selection of various translation words
