Abstrak
Yesmika , Reg No. 1730104078 entitled: “AN ANALISYS OF PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS SOCIAL COMPETENCE (A Study of English Department Students of UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar in 2023)” English Teaching Department Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Islamic State University of Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar. The problem in this study is that the social competence of English language students as pre sevice teachers has not been revealed, which is closely related to their ability to communicate with their students effectively. This study aims to analyze the social competence of pre service teachers when carrying out during pre-service teacher program. This study involves gathering data to assess and magnitude of association between multiple measurable variables. It utilized a descriptive quantitative design to analize of social competence english students a study of the pre-service student of UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar in 2023. This research used simple random sampling for data collection using Slovin's formula. The sample for this study consisted of 82 students as a student teacher, with 20 students as student teacher for the trial. In data collection, a closed-ended questionnaire with 46 statements was used as the instrument. The questionnaire was validated using SPSS software version 28. The validity results were calculated by comparing the r-value obtained (r-count) with the r-value from the table (r-table). Reliability was calculated using SPSS software version 28 with the Cronbach's Alpha method, and the reliability was found to be 0.963, which falls into the reliable category.. Based on the data description and analysis, it can be concluded social competence of English Students as pre-service students was in the positive category, according to a questionnaire administered to English Department students of UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar in the 2023/2024 academic year. The students' perceptions were positive in terms of objective and inclusive aspects, emphatic, polite, and effective communication, and communication skills both orally and in writing, while their perception of adaptive ability was in the neutral category. These results highlight the overall positive evaluation of social competence among pre-service English Students, with some room for improvement in adaptability.
