ABSTRACT Jihan Latifah, Reg, No. 2030104029. Thesis title “Students’ Difficulties in Completing an Article as a Final Project of Seminar On ELT Subject,”. Department of English Tadris, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Science, Mahmud Yunus State Islamic University (UIN) Batusangkar. The problem in this research is that this research has not revealed what difficulties students experience in completing article writing as the final project of Seminar on ELT subject. This study aims to describe the difficulties of students in completing article in the Seminar on ELT course at UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar in the 2022/2023 academic year. This research uses qualitative research, with a case study design. The informants of this study were 9 students who were selected using purposive sampling technique. Informants are students who take the Seminar on ELT course, students who indicate difficulties in completing article writing as a final assignment of the Seminar on ELT course. In this study, the researcher acted as a key instrument and the interview guide as a supporting instrument. In collecting data, the researcher interviewed informants. To test the trustworthiness of the data, data triangulation was used to find clear information. Furthermore, in analyzing the data, data reduction, data display, and data verification were used. The results showed that six difficulties existed in students when completing an article as a final project of Seminar on ELT subject. The difficulties faced by students are: (1) finding sources as a reference (2) not familiar with the topic given (3) do not understand what they have to make, (4) Different levels of diligence and cohesiveness between group members, (5) dividing tasks with group members, (6) determining the time to work on group assignments together.
