Abstrak
MUHAMMAD DZAKY ALQADRI RUSLAN ,Reg no. 1830104038, The thesis entitled “AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ PERSONAL PRONOUN ERRORS FOUND IN THEIR WRITING TEST (A Study of the First Semester Students of English Department at UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar Registered in 2023/2024 Academic Year)” Department of English, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Mahmud Yunus State Islamic University Batusangkar. The problem in this research was that there were some students who made personal pronoun errors in final examinition writing test. The purpose of this research was to describe students’ personal pronoun errors found in their final examination writing test of English language students of UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar in the 2023/2024 academic year. This research was qualitative research, a content analysis design. The key instrument of this research was the researcher himself. The main instrument to analyze the data is the taxonomy surface stratgey from Dulay's theory. There were 15 documents that were analyzed. In collecting data, the researcher took several steps. These steps are as follows: getting permission to obtain student documents from the English writing lecturer, numbering the students' documents, and analyzing the students' personal pronoun errors. In analyzing the data, he followed Barkhuizen's theory. The taken steps were coding the students' documents, classifying the students' personal pronoun errors, based on the types of errors according to Dulay's theory in Safitri (2019), discussing and making conclusions. Based on the data analysis above, the researcher found that there were four students’ personal errors found in their final examination writing test. Those errors were omission, addition, misformation, and misodering.
