Abstrak
This research is motivated by the lack of disclosure of students' perceptions of the English language materials used by English teachers. This study aims to describe students' views of the English language materials used by English teachers. This study uses a quantitative approach by using a survey design. The perception of students that will be seen is the perception of grade 3 students from the Department of Computer and Network Engineering at SMK N1 Solok, amounting to 85 out of 3 classes. The sampling technique used is the total sampling technique. The instrument used is in the form of a questionnaire related to learning materials by an English teacher, which is distributed directly to students using the Likert scale technique. Validation of the questionnaire using a validator using Aikens' formula. The validation results show that the general validity is 0.5 (medium). The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the student's perception of the material used by the teacher was positive, with an average student perception of 133.15 with a positive category. The data obtained as a whole is distributed in 4 ways. Aspects of input, content focus, language focus and task with an average of 34.51, 31.2, 22.9, and 44.5 with negative, very positive, positive, and positive categories. The first is the input aspect. Therefore, overall, these aspects, student perceptions obtained by students, are in the positive category. This study revealed that students' perceptions were in a positive position and that the English material used was appropriate. However, because the data does not fully meet the research aspects, the expected aspects do not meet the criteria provided. It is hoped that this research can provide information on learning materials regarding the selection and use of English language materials that will be used by teachers in learning, especially in vocational schools.
