Experimental Analysis of Drowsiness Detection System Based on Grasping Steering Bahavior

This project presents a sensor arrangement that is suitable for measuring grip force and hand position on the steering wheel. This sensor can be used in automotive safety systems designed to detect a drowsy driver, which is the important thing to avoid road accidents. Our approach is to design a sensor network based on the way the driver grips, each sensor equipped with the ability to detect the driver's grip force, A proof-of-concept demonstration of the sensor was created, composed of 12units force sensitive resistor (FSR). This project also presents the results of grip force men and women drivers by using drive simulators at a speed of 60km / h. Four drivers (male and female) took part in this project. Grip force was measured using a force sensitive resistor mounted systems around the steering wheel. The results showed that men's grip force is much higher than female drivers and also can detect sleepy driver, when reach the drowsy level, the buzzer will be activated and will alert the driver. Drowsiness detection system using a force sensitive resistor is a useful method for determining and monitoring the power grip while driving and detecting driver drowsiness level of the driver.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome and Epilepsy

Epilepsy and Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) are both associated with abnormal brain activity and frequently coexist. Epilepsy patients were found to be drowsier when compared with general population using the Epworth Sleepiness Scale. The aim of this study is to determine the association of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) in epilepsy patients, as well as the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and the predictors of sleepiness among epileptics in South East Asian patients. Five of sixty participants (8.3%) were diagnosed with OSAS and four of them were males. OSAS was mild in one patient, moderate in two patients and severe in the other two. Age, neck circumference, ESS score and BMI were significantly associated with OSAS (p value <0.05). Epilepsy-related risks (type of seizures, duration and type of AED) have no significant association with OSAS. Forty- nine percent of the abnormal physical findings found in OSAS group were related to deviated nasal septum and inferior turbinate hypertrophy. The prevalence of OSAS among epilepsy patients is 8.3%.

Development of Ocean Wave Energy Harvester

The ocean wave is a type of renewable energy with abundant resources and can contain considerable amount of power which can be convert into useful electrical energy. This thesis aims to propose and develop a concept of ocean wave energy harvesting system and to investigate the characteristic of the system. An ocean wave energy harvesting system was developed based on a linear magnet generator. A test rig with a wave generator was built to simulate the wave and the influences of the wave height on the system power output were identified. Experimental test on the system have shown that with increase of wave height the power output also increase with the highest power output at 0.74655 mW at 4.5 cm. The important characteristic of an ocean wave energy generator is the storage capacity, number of wire turns in coil and the strength of the magnet. It can be comprehend that the developed model is capable of converting the kinetic energy of the wave into electrical energy. A more improved ocean wave energy harvesting system is highly recommended for small scale electrical applications.

The Druze Community and the Lebanese State

One of the fundamental questions of Middle Eastern, and Lebanese studies in particular, is the history of the relationship between the Druze community and the state in modern Lebanon. Arguing that the Druze community has been politically alienated from the Lebanese state, this book explores the historical and political origins of this alienation. The Druze Community and the Lebanese State contends that the origins of this alienation lie in the state’s national ideology, its political confessional system, and the Druze’s historical background during the medieval period. Moreover, this book examines the extent to which the Druze’s attitude vis-à-vis the Lebanese state has been influenced by their historical rivalry with the Maronites. Particular emphasis is placed on the political and ideological practices adopted by the Druze leadership and intelligentsia as they dealt with the changes taking place in their community’s political status following the political settlements of 1920 and 1943 (the establishment of Greater Lebanon and the National Pact, respectively). A welcome addition to existing literature on Lebanon, this book will be an essential reference tool for students and researchers with an interest in nationalism, identity and Middle East Politics more broadly.

Ilmu Pragmatik dalam Perspektif Kesopanan Berbahasa

Ilmu pragmatik merupakan salah satu cabang ilmu dalam linguistik yang memfokuskan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara bahasa dan konteks yang mengalami proses gramatikal atau ditandai di dalam struktur bahasa. Salah satu hal yang dipelajari dalam ilmu pragmatik yakni mengenai tindak tutur dalam hal ini dikhususkan mengenai tindak tutur kesopanan berbahasa. Buku yang khusus membahas terkait kesopanan berbahasa boleh dikatakan belum banyak ditulis oleh penulis lainnya. Pada buku ini kita akan melihat berbagai penelitian yang mengkaji mengenai kesopanan berbahasa dari berbagai pendekatan. Pada Bab bagian pertama, pembaca akan disajikan mengenai gambaran umum mengenai ilmu pragmatik. Pada bab ini dijelaskan secara umum mengenai definisi ilmu pragmatik, bagian ini boleh dikatakan sebagai bagian pengantar sebelum membahas mengenai kesopanan berbahasa yang merupakan salah satu sub kajian dalam ilmu pragmatik. Pada bab selanjutnya, pembaca akan disajikan mengenai gambaran teori kesopanan berbahasa. Pada bab ini, pembaca diperkenalkan beberapa teori kesopanan berbahasa yang secara umum diikuti. Pada bab ini juga dijelaskan bagaimana menganalisis ataupun menginterpretasikan suatu tuturan berdasarkan maksim kesopanan berbahasa. Pada bab III, kita akan melihat salah satu contoh penelitian mengenai kesopanan berbahasa dalam komunikasi politik. Pendekatan pertama yang dijelaskan dalam buku ini yakni pendekatan kualitatif. Objek kajian dalam penelitian ini yakni tuturan calon gubernur menjelang pemilihan gubernur di Sulawesi Selatan. Setelah mengenalkan pendekatan kualitatif, pada bagian selanjutnya pembaca dikenalkan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dalam kajian kesopanan berbahasa. Fokus pada penelitian ini yakni untuk mengkaji bagaimana pengaruh kesopanan berbahasa seorang tokoh elite politik terhadap elektabilitas mereka di mata masyarakat. Selanjutnya, pada Bab V, penulis akan mengenai kesopanan berbahasa berbasis fenomena lokal, dalam hal ini dijelaskan bahwa setiap masyarakat mempunyai definisi tersendiri terkait kesopanan berbahasa. Pada bagian ini, penulis memberikan perspektif masyarakat bugis mengenai kesopanan berbahasa suatu tuturan. Pada bab terakhir, penulis akan menjelaskan salah satu contoh penelitian yang merupakan perpaduan antara pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Objek kajian dalam penelitian ini yakni, bagaimana pengaruh kesopanan seorang guru dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa.

This book rack is important equipment because it reduces the work area of a person and provides a practical and suitable place to put their tools while working. However, former book rack is not acceptable because it too small and not friendly user like cannot move. The normal book rack in the market is not have enough features because it not has any drawer and cannot protect the book from the dust. With this new concept, maybe the market of the new book rack can increase and automatically can give the best service to users.
