This research is a quantitative study with causal comparative design (ex post facto). The population in this research are students of the third, fifth, and seventh semester of the English Language Study Program in the academic year 2021/2022 which the total population is 200 students. The sampling technique used in this study was Disporpotionate Stratified Random Sampling with total sample of 93 students, 70 female students and 23 male students. The instrument in this study was a questionnaire by using google form containing the communication strategies used by students. The questionnaire was tested using try out. Data processing was carried out through the 't ”test to see the differences of communication strategies used by students based on gender with the help of SPSS 22. The final result is known by comparing the t-observation value with the t-table value. The results of analysis on the differences of communication strategies used by students based on gender showed that t-observation was smaller than t-table value with a score of 0, 231, it means > than 0,05. In the independent sample test, it is obtained that H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected, which there is significant difference of communication strategies used by students across genders.
