3D Modeling Tool Selection for Research-based Educational Games

Nowadays, serious games are gaining wide recognition, and many studies have been conducted regarding their implementation. However, the value of serious games in education and research is still subject to debate. Serious game designers might have difficulty selecting appropriate tools for 3D game development since most 3D modeling tools and game engines are designed for developing commercial games. This report highlights the value of research-based educational games and suggests an Education Modeling Tool Framework for 3D modeling tools and game engine selection. The author modifies Petridis and De Freitas’s (2012) framework for serious game engine selection to meet the specialized needs of research-based educational games. The unique features identified are high compatibility with game engines, moderate visual fidelity, smooth learning curve, ample documentation and support, and low cost. Then, the report discusses the actual use of the Education Modeling Tool Framework for the development of a research-based educational game Alien Rescue. The framework was applied in selecting 3D modeling tools as well as game engines for Alien Rescue development. Finally, the conclusion includes suggestions for possible applications and utility of the Education Modeling Tool Framework in other research-based educational game projects.

Implikasi Pembatasan Kompetensi Absolut Peradilan Tata Usaha Negara

Pada prinsipnya kekuasaan kehakiman dilakukan oleh sebuah Mahkamah Agung dan badan peradilan yang ada di bawahnya, dalam lingkungan Peradilan Umum, Peradilan Agama, Peradilan Militer, Peradilan Tata Usaha Negara, dan sebuah Mahkamah Konstitusi. Hal tersebut secara tegas diatur dalam Undang-Undang Dasar 1945, baik sebelum maupun sesudah diamandemen. Keberadaan kekuasaan kehakiman menunjukkan bahwa negara Indonesia sebagai negara hukum (rechtsstaat). Pasal 1 ayat (3) Perubahan Undang-Undang Dasar 1945, menyatakan bahwa negara Indonesia adalah negara hukum. Salah satu syarat dari negara hukum adalah perlu adanya Peradilan Tata Usaha Negara. Untuk mewujudkan hadir Peradilan Tata Usaha Negara, maka pada tanggal 29 Desember 1986 Presiden mensahkan Undang-Undang Nomor 5 Tahun 1986 tentang Peradilan Tata Usaha Negara. Kemudian, pada tanggal 29 Maret 2004 disempurnakan dengan Undang-Undang Nomor 9 Tahun 2004 tentang Perubahan atas Undang-Undang Nomor 5 Tahun 1986 tentang Peradilan Tata Usaha Negara. Dalam perubahan tersebut tidak semua pasal diubah. Bahkan, pasal-pasal yang mengatur tentang kompetensi Peradilan Tata Usaha Negara tetap dipertahankan dan masih tetap berlaku. Undang-Undang Peradilan Tata Usaha Negara, memberikan kompetensi absolut kepada Peradilan Tata Usaha Negara untuk mengontrol tindakan pemerintah dan menyelesaikan, memeriksa, serta memutus sengketa Tata Usaha Negara.

<em>Zakat (Divine Tax) is the only worship in Islam where the person responsible for collecting the Zakat mentioned in the Quran. This person is called amil (collector). Therefore, the legal basis for the amil is obviously stated in the Quran and the Sunnah. Even, the prophet pbuh and the companions have shown how to pay zakat through the amil. There must be no doubts paying zakat through amil. However, some phenomena show that the zakat that is paid directly by the tax payer (muzaki) to those who deserve to have it (mustahik). Those phenomena leave a very serious question: whether the receivers are truly mustahik. This is quite reasonable since most of the muzaki distribute  their own zakat  to their own relatives while many others in their neighborhood deserve to receive more than the others due to their economic conditions.</em>

Betapa pun awamnya seorang Muslim, niscaya mereka tahu dan memang selayaknya mengetahui bahwa al-Qur’an al-Karim merupakan sumber utama dan pertama bagi agama Islam. PENDEKATAN LINGUISTIK DALAM PENGKAJIAN SUMBER HUKUM ISLAM

<p><em>Approaches in Islamic studies should be appropriate with the object under studies. Linguistic approach is one of the approaches in Islamic studies whose object is scripture (manuscripts or texts). Therefore, as the main source of Islamic laws, al-Quran should use linguistics in one of its approaches. Linguistic approach which is used emphasizes upon two categories, namely linguistic and concept analyses as well.</em></p><p> </p><strong>Kata kunci: </strong>pendekatan, linguistik, <em>al</em><em>-qur’an</em>, hermeneutik.

KEBIASAAN BELAJAR BAHASA ARAB SISWA KELAS UNGGULAN (PENELITIAN ETNOGRAFI DI MTSN BATUSANGKAR TP. 2011/2012)

This study employed ethnography method and such techniques as observation, interview, documentary studies and questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed by means of domain, taxonomy and componential analyses. Findings showed that the learning habits of the majority students of outstanding achievement class (kelas unggulan) of MTsN Batusangkar both at school and at home were good. Those habits were in line with achievement which they took is a reward. Satisfaction toward the reward encouraged them to be more motivated in learning which in turn developed better learning habit. These had formed a good chain in learning process.
