Students' Opinion Toward Their Readiness to Teach English for Young Learners
This paper aims to describe the students' opinions on their readiness in teaching English for young learners. This research uses a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. The informants of this study were 9 English Teaching Department students who took English for Young Learners Academic Year 2018/2019. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique. In this study, researcher as key instruments. Data collection techniques in this study using interview technique and using other supporting tool, such as; interview guide, tape recorder and documentation. To test the validity of the data, the researcher uses prolonged engagement and member-checking to explore more detailed information related to the problem under study. Then, to analyze the data, researcher used the theory of Miles and Hubberman (1994), which included data reduction, data display, data verification and drawing conclusions. The result of this study confirmed that there are 10 positive opinions and 3 negative opinions toward the students’ readiness to teach English for young learners. These findings can be valuable information and reflections for the students, the lecturer and readers.
